Ben Carson Can’t Stop Talking About His Laundry
Iowa’s system of caucuses forced those followers to confront other people with different views before they could vote.
Ted Cruz and Ben Carson.
After Saturday night’s Republican debate – where Cruz once again apologized for his team calling Carson supporters and telling them the former neurosurgeon was suspending his campaign – Carson now wants an apology from the news network that Cruz blames for the incident. “To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr. Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics”, he said.
“I regret that subsequently, CNN reported on that – they didn’t correct that story until 9:15 that night”, Cruz continued. That ad attacks Cruz, a Republican senator from Texas, for his stance on immigration and compares Trump favorably.
Was it Carson’s staff which, hearing of the CNN report, didn’t correct the speculation?
“Dr. Ben Carson will be (inaudible) suspending campaigning following tonight’s caucuses”. Let’s see what in fact the Cruz campaign will do about those individuals who inappropriately disseminate this information knowing that the caucuses were not over.
They reported that on television, CNN’s political anchors, Jake Tapper and Dana Bash and Wolf Blitzer, said it was highly unusual and highly significant.
As voters in Iowa headed to the caucuses, the Cruz campaign sent a message urging Ben Carson supporters to switch their support to Cruz because Carson was dropping out of the race. King has told reporters in Washington, D.C. he had an “obligation” to tell Iowans about a report he’d seen indicating Carson was flying home to Florida Monday night rather than going to New Hampshire.
As for saying that CNN “simultaneously” reported that Carson would continue campaigning, that’s technically true and CNN didn’t unfairly report the details of Carson’s decision. After coming in second to Cruz, Donald Trump called for a do-over vote this week and the two candidates have traded barbs on the campaign trail over the past few days.
Stigall, on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said this entire controversy is Carson’s fault for running such a poor campaign and making mistakes that can be exploited by his opponents.
According to my colleague Joel Pollak’s timeline of events, Moody made clear in his Twitter-reporting that Ben Carson was not dropping out of the race. The following morning, however, Dr. Carson publicly called Ted Cruz’s actions “dirty tricks”.
“Ted Cruz didn’t win Iowa, he stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong and why he got far more votes than anticipated”. But CNN does not say Carson is suspending his campaign.
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, a Republican who wanted Cruz defeated because of his opposition to federal ethanol support, criticized the Cruz campaign for its tactics.
The woman who yelled the vulgarity that Trump repeated is a 52-year-old Salem, New Hampshire, resident named Caroline, who declined to give her last name. Despite several candidates who were behind him walking out and a stage hand waving him to get the hell up there, Carson stood strong, firm in his belief that the wing was his new home. The leads will flip instead of the coins in New Hampshire and all the speeches delivered this week that began with I told you so won’t matter.
