Ben Carson cuts campaign staff
The retired neurosurgeon will let go over 50 of his 125 staff members. But a Carson adviser told The Post that a campaign shake-up was in the works before the caucuses.
A report from Washington Post indicates that amid a drought in campaign funds, Carson is downsizing his campaign with at least 50 cuts in staff positions.
Other people’s salaries will be reduced, the number of people who travel with Carson will shrink, and he may begin flying on commercial flights rather than private jets. His most senior staffers will stay on board.
Carson adviser Armstrong Williams told the Post that the decision was on the table for weeks, but the campaign wanted to wait until after the Iowa caucuses.
The development came after Carson placed fourth in Monday’s Iowa caucuses with about 9.3% of the vote.
Even if Ben Carson says he isn’t getting out of the 2016 race any time soon, new reports about his staff suggest that his campaign isn’t exactly in the best shape ever.
Williams said that Carson is still angry at Sen.
On the night of the Iowa caucuses, Cruz’s campaign distributed a CNN report on Carson’s seemingly unusual plan to fly home to Florida early and rest instead of moving on directly to the next primary states. “Have you noticed in a baseball game, there are nine innings and you don’t call the game after the first inning or two?”
