His campaign confirmed Wednesday that the GOP presidential candidate raised more than $20 million this quarter. “The people have gotten involved, and that’s something I think they probably never anticipated”.

Carson campaign manager Barry Bennett says he has initiated plans to begin reserving television ad space across the South for primary contests scheduled for early March.

After describing his escape by climbing a fence too high for them to follow, he said he would “laugh at them because they couldn’t do that… that was back in the day, before they would shoot you”.

GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson has a strong following among conservatives. The two leading Democrat have: Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign said late Wednesday it had raised $28 million, while Vermont Sen. Bennett estimated the campaign had at least $12 million in the bank as of Wednesday. Bernie Sanders’ team said it had pulled in roughly $26 million. His appeal within the Republican base, even amid comments that have drawn scrutiny, including his statement that he wouldn’t support a Muslim for president, has proven steady in recent weeks.

“This is a campaign of, for and by the people and I’ve made it very clear that I’m not going after the billionaires, the special interest groups”, Carson told the crowd in New Castle, N.H.
