Ben Carson: Our president can not be Muslim
Carson told NBC’s “Meet the Press” he believed a president’s faith should matter “depending on what that faith is”.
Carson, a devout Christian, says a president’s faith should matter to voters if it runs counter to the values and principles of America. “But if it fits within the realm of America and [is] consistent with the constitution, no problem”.
He also said that Islam, as a religion, is incompatible with the Constitution.
Trump: But we also, at the same time, excuse me, at the same time, we have fabulous people living here, Muslims, and they have done fantastically well, but certainly it is a problem.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter defended Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump from a wave of criticism he has endured after failing to correct a questioner who referred to President Barack Obama as a Muslim who was not born in the United States.
In the run-up to the 2012 election for president, Trump repeatedly expressed doubt that Obama was born in the United States.
“We know, based on what’s happened before this debate, that as people come to know me and they understand who I am and what I’ve done and most importantly what I will do they tend to support me”.
“I can say that it’s something that at some point could happen”. The man then displayed high Islamophobia by adding: “We have a problem”.
Republican USA presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said Sunday he “absolutely would not agree” with having a Muslim as the American president. He recalled an incident during the 2008 campaign when Republican nominee John McCain took the microphone away from a woman who said she didn’t trust Obama because he was an “Arab”. “No chance!” Trump said.
“Because I don’t talk about people’s faith”. Another outsider candidate, the much more softly spoken retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, is in a clear second place.
Trump’s campaign manager initially claimed he had failed to correct the questioner as he had trouble hearing in the packed room, but the former reality television star finally addressed the controversy with a series of tweets on 19 September.
“His latest outrage, the way he handled the question about Obama, was shocking but not surprising”, Clinton said. And you know, if I want to say, “Oh no, not at all“.
