Ben & Jerry’s releases dairy-free ice cream
So far, there are non-dairy versions of Chunky Monkey and Chocolate Fudge Brownie, plus the newly-created Coffee Caramel Fudge and P.B & Cookies. In fact, Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Ice Cream seems to be a true indulgence, not rivaling other brands in the purest ingredient use.
I scream, you scream, and, in this day and age of specialized diets, we all scream for non-dairy ice cream!
If you’re one of the many people in the world who are lactose intolerant or have a hard time digesting dairy products, but love ice cream and are chronically depressed that you can’t indulge in this cooling, sugary treat, Ben & Jerry’s has a fix for you.
The only problem left: which Ben & Jerry’s Non-Dairy Ice Cream flavor to choose first?
The Daily Meal staff tested out each of the four flavors, and can confirm that each are delicious – even to the carnivores and dairy addicts in the house – although Chunky Monkey and P.B. Cookies were the runaway favorites.
And the flavor creator, Kirsten Schimoler, obviously has chocoholic tendencies as every new pint has at least a chunk or swirl of cacao.
Expected in grocery stores in the next few weeks, the Vermont-based company says the ice cream is certified vegan and made with almond milk. The brownies for the chocolate fudge brownie, for example, come from the Yonkers-based Greyston Bakery, which provides jobs to low-income residents. A totally bananas non-dairy frozen dessert with chunks of fudge and walnuts. & Cookies, a flavor decked out with chunky peanut butter swirl and pieces of chocolate cookies.
