Benedict Cumberbatch is warping reality in new trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange
The British star was at Comic Con in San Diego to reveal the brand new trailer for the action film over the weekend.
Walt Disney Co-owned Marvel showcased diverse casts for its upcoming films after facing criticism over recent years for a superhero franchise dominated by white male actors.
The studio have released the following updated synopsis: Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic vehicle accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.
The casting of Tilda Swinton as a Celtic “Ancient One” caused an uproar among some fans, as the character is of Asian origin in the comics.
The movie has been pegged for a release on the 4th of November, 2016, so if you have enjoyed the comics starring Doctor Strange before this, hopefully this movie will be able to live up to your expectations.
She tells the doctor, “we harness energy and shape reality”. “It’s a title, and all the things the Ancient One knows and passes on, anyone can do”, Swinton said.
It was announced that a new attraction based on Guardians Of The Galaxy will open at Disneyland in California in the summer of 2017. Weak trailers haven’t helped so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how people react to the new one.
In addition to the trailer, Marvel also unveiled a new poster for the film which provides a great look at Strange’s costume, as well as maintaining some psychedelic elements.
Marvel had kept shy of the Comic Con scene for almost a year.
“Yes he takes himself seriously we need that for the fall he suffers which is major before his rise to becoming a superhero, but you’ve got to care about the guy, not just because he’s having all kinds of trauma inflicted on him, but because he’s fun”.
