Bengals corner Adam Jones apologies to Steelers’ Brown
The Steelers have ruled out All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown from Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game against Denver while he recovers from a concussion.
On the other side of the ball, the Steelers were carved up by Brock Osweiler for 296 yards and three scores.
Brown caught 136 passes for 1,834 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season and 16 catches for 189 yards and a pair of touchdowns against Denver in week 17.
Yet, the Steelers insist they can get by without him.
While Pittsburgh won the battle against Cincinnati, it will be without Brown, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is questionable, according to Chuck Schilken of the Los Angeles Times. When the news broke, Jones posted an apology to Instagram.
The Broncos will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Divisional Championship game. Then, he was an overachieving sixth-round pick from Central Michigan.
Foster was asked what the game plan was going be without Brown, who had played in 55 consecutive games, including the playoffs, since the 2012 season.
And while not having his familiar No. 84 in the huddle will be weird, it won’t be the end of the world.
But, we’ll just have to wait until Sunday to see what version of Ben shows up, because he has surprised us all before when he was injured. Pittsburgh is hoping that they can get Brown back on the field quickly though. “And they still got Ben Roethlisberger”. Either way, we know he won’t be at 100%.
“It’s great to have him back out there”, said receiver Martavis Bryant, one of the players expected to have a bigger role in the offense with Brown out.
Also fined were Steelers assistant coaches Mike Munchak and Joey Porter for $10,000 each, ESPN reports.
Pittsburgh offensive line coach Munchak was flagged in the first quarter for grabbing the jersey and some dreadlocks of safety Reggie Nelson who had shoved a Steelers player out of bounds. They also didn’t call a penalty on Jeremy Hill when he ran onto the field to try to start a fight with half of the Steelers players.
The NFL announced on Monday night that Burfict has been suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season, which would cost him three game checks – $502,941.
Jones has been fined $28,940.
The penalized don’t include Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier, who drove the top of his helmet into the jaw of the Bengals’ Giovani Bernard, knocking the running back unconscious and resulting in a concussion and a fumble.
Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari has been listed as probable for tonight’s road game against the Cardinals. Peyton Manning is relatively healthy now, but he is 39 years old and missed a big chunk of the season because of a foot injury.
Roethlisberger’s shoulder injury should preclude the Steelers from attacking the Broncos in a similar fashion.
