Bengals meltdown hands Steelers improbable last-gasp wildcard victory
Tonight’s Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals AFC Wild Card NFL Playoffs game will determine the final four in the conference following the early Wild Card game.
What channel is the Pittsburgh Steelers-Cincinnati Bengals playoff game on? With Steelers facing third-and-long, Burfict got through and sacked Roethlisberger on a clean hit. The game has a scheduled start time of 8.15 p.m. ET and takes place from Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ben Roethlisberger completed 40 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns, while Antonio Brown had 16 receptions for 189 yards and two touchdown receptions.
The Steelers’ other backup quarterback is veteran Michael Vick, who started three games earlier this season.
Cincinnati’s 25-year playoff drought is the sixth-longest in National Football League history.
Although the Bengals are asking McCarron to not turn the ball over, Pittsburgh has proven firepower in 12-year quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
The Bengals managed all of 56 yards in the first half. This season, it’s even worse, as both Le’Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams are out. One of the big questions aside from if Cincinnati can run is will Hill see more carries than Giovani Bernard. Aaron Rodgers and the wild-card Packers (10-6) enter the playoffs having won only four of their past 10 games. Bengals QB Andy Dalton had the cast removed from his fractured right thumb and worked on gripping the ball this week in practice, but on Friday he was officially ruled out of this game.
The first personal foul penalty came from an unlikely source, Pittsburgh Hall of Fame offensive line coach Mike Munchak, flagged for grabbing Reggie Nelson’s hair after the safety found himself mixing it up with a couple of Steelers after pushing Todman out of bounds. There were no pregame fisticuffs this time – unlike Pittsburgh’s previous visit – thanks in part to assistant coaches on both sides creating a black-clad DMZ at midfield.
The Steelers have said all week that if they can win the turnover battle they could win. The Broncos won in Kansas City, 31-24, in Week Two.
The Chiefs last played New England in 2014. Landry Jones would come in and the Steelers would be forced to punt the ball away. The extent of his injury is still not clear, but he may or may not be ready to go next week, which will be a huge blow in the next round of the playoffs. Brown is the key piece of the Steelers offense, and has been near unstoppable this season. He’s been playing well enough to allow the Bengals to make the playoffs, but he certainly hasn’t been a difference maker. McCarron, in his second year out of Alabama, went 2-1 to end the regular season after Dalton was injured making a tackle during a December 13 home loss to the Steelers.
