Benicio Del Toro in talks to star in Shane Black’s Predator!
Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys director Shane Black will direct the Predator movie from a script by his Monster Squad co-writer Fred Dekker, featuring a story the pair wrote together.
Benicio Del Toro is in early talks to star in Predator, the reboot of the franchise in the works at 20th Century Fox.
There are no further details available about del Toro’s character. That’s what we want.
With The Predator set to begin filming in February, with a release date set for February 9, 2018, you can expect that the next few months will be filled with sporadic reports about the blockbuster’s development and casting. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is in negotiations to star in the sci-fi reboot. Will Del Toro be a good addition to the Predator reboot? The last film in the franchise was 2010’s Predators, which featured Adrien Brody and Laurence Fishburne. The original film was a Vietnam-inflected tale of Special Forces badasses trapped in a murder-jungle, but it’s possibly/extremely likely that Black’s film will refocus on new terrain. Considering that they’re trying to do something fresh and different, they still want to do the series justice and they want the film to live up to the greatness of the first film from the ’80s. Del Toro is rumored to be playing a villain in Episode VIII, though this is not confirmed.
