Bentley Bentayga: Their First SUV Revealed

Vehicle makers that are focusing on the mass market instead on the luxury and premium customers will be also present at the show. With the signature Bentley look, the SUV features four LED headlights and a glass roof, thus touching a new level. The real question is can an SUV truly be a Bentley?

Bentley says the development programme for the new auto has been the most exhaustive in the brand’s history, ranging from the dirt and gravel of South Africa and the dunes of Dubai to muddy Cheshire fields, and from -30°C in the frozen North Cape to searing 50°C desert heat. Now, after four years, the British luxury automaker has finally unveiled the 2016 Bentley Bentayga SUV. Disappointed by the audience’s initial reactions, Bentley designers went back to the drawing boards and came up with what you see here. Acceleration to 100kph takes only 4.1 seconds, and top speed is 301 kph.

The Bentley Bentayga will share some of its mechanical components with other SUVs in the VW Group, but the sheetmetal and the interior will be unique to the Bentayga.

The new Bentayga is even rumoured to be sold out for next year already. It also features cylinder deactivation technology that shuts down half the engine when the power isn’t needed. Maybe that’s a sign of the times that the internal combustion engine is starting its walk out the door.

Another important change to the W12 was made to accommodate Bentayga’s off-road mission. Depending on which mode the driver selects, the system varies the parameters for the ride height, throttle response, traction, steering, and transmission shift points to optimize performance in marginal conditions.

All of this means there’s going to be an enormous amount of brand-new product, so much so that the two traditional media-only days will involve a gruelling schedule of a press conference or product reveal at least every half-hour – 50 on the first day and another 41 the next.

Falling demand for brand spanking new automobiles in China is a priority for worldwide automakers, however none greater than the host Germans. This system counteracts lateral rolling forces when cornering to ensure maximum tyre contact to give the vehicle ideal stability. All the seats inside are handcrafted in leather, wood and metal. The seats are adjustable with massage and ventilation functions.

The Panoramic sunroof opens interior space to the outside world, but maintains the desired isolation from noise through the use of acoustic interlays to reduce sound.
