Bentley Notting Hill crash – man charged with death by dangerous driving
A man has been charged with causing death by unsafe driving after the driver of a broken van was killed when he was hit by a Bentley.
Eyewitnesses report the silver Bentley was travelling down Pembridge Villas, where homes cost as much as £15million, at about 70mph when it hit the gardener and his van.
The 31-year-old, of Porchester Road, Paddington, has also been charged with causing death by driving a vehicle not in accordance with his licence and while uninsured, and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
Police are looking for two men after a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a Bentley Continental vehicle in Notting Hill last night.
The victim was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after 1pm.
A spokesman added: “We are now supporting the London Metropolitan Police with their investigations and are unable to make any further comment at this time”.
When police arrived at the scene, the £120,000 auto still had its engine running and headlights on – however it was empty.
The London Evening Standard said the victim was thought to be in his 30s, and was believed to have worked for Kensington and Chelsea Council’s grounds maintenance contractors Quadron. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
