Bernard Tomic beats Michael Berrer to reach Claro Open final
Croatian top seed Karlovic dropped a set to world number 607 Daniel Elahi Galan, but that was the best it got for the Colombian wildcard as Karlovic earned a 6-7 (12-14) 6-1 6-3 victory.
Australian tennis ace Bernard Tomic has successfully defended his Bogota Open title in Colombia with a three-set win over Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.
Tomic’s victory comes after the 22-year-old was suspended from Australia’s Davis Cup quarter-final win over Kazakhstan in Darwin for savaging Tennis Australia bosses and then being arrested 10 days ago in Miami following a hotel party.
Bernard Tomic defeated Michael Berrer to reach the final of the Bogota ATP World Tour event for the second year in a row.
He was runner-up in Auckland earlier this year, when he made it to his first career final.
Karlovic, ranked 23rd, served 17 aces and didn’t allow a break point against Mannarino but struggled in both tiebreakers.
Chasing his third career title, Tomic will look to extend his 1-0 head-to-head edge over Mannarino when the pair square off on Sunday, having beaten the Frenchman in the Acapulco first round in February.
