Bernie Sanders officially endorses Hillary Clinton
“Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process and I congratulate her for that”, Sanders said, after being interrupted by applause.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has received an endorsement from her former rival Bernie Sanders.
“Her being the first female president I don’t think is a good first person”, said 24-year-old Joel Demianew. “Our goal will be to advance the progressive agenda that we believe in and to elect like-minded candidates at the federal, state and local levels who are committed to accomplishing our goals”. And a third might engage in other political activity, possibly registering as a political action committee, Weaver said.
Clinton said she supported bias training and nationwide use-of-force guidelines for police officers to curb the “tragedy of black men and women and black children being killed in police incidents”. Sanders’ Arizona delegates planned a conference call Tuesday night to discuss the next steps after the endorsement.
“In these stressful times for our country, this election must be about bringing our people together, not dividing us up”, Sanders said.
A recent poll by PEW Research showed 9 percent of Sanders Supporters endorsing Donald Trump, much to the chagrin of Clinton supporters like Terrence Carroll.
Following Sanders’ remarks, Clinton thanked Sanders and extolled his efforts and the excitement his campaign generated.
Other Sanders supporters were more resigned. He’s a fan of the proposed Democratic platform, but sees it as a compromise. They reportedly failed, however, to reach common ground on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade accord. “I really hope that Hillary can use him in her administration and implement some of his ideas in the administration”.
– Trump ready to pick running mate?
“The candidate who ran against special interests is endorsing the candidate who embodies special interests”, his campaign said in a release. Stavridis, who served as supreme allied commander at North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, is now dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Top Democrats, including President Barack Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA, a favorite of the party’s liberal wing, have already announced their support for Clinton, leaving Sanders at risk of being left behind in the Democratic battle against Trump.
“I think all signs point to the fact that we’re going to have a very united party going into Philadelphia”, Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said on CNN earlier on Tuesday, “and when you compare it to the Republicans, we’re going to be miles ahead of them”.
“I don’t know whether he’s going to be your governor or your vice president”. A number of prominent Republicans are skipping the party’s convention in Cleveland next week.
