Bernie Sanders Promises he will Make Donald Trump Accountable
And I say to Mr. Trump, from the bottom of my heart, and I know I speak for millions of fellow Americans: Mr. Trump, we are not going backwards in terms of bigotry; we’re going to go forward in creating a nondiscriminatory society.
At Thursday’s breakfast, Sanders wouldn’t speculate on whether or not he might have beaten Trump, though the night before speaking to students at George Washington University he seemed to do just that.
“The party has got to recognize some very important realities that Donald Trump, in fact, recognized”, Sanders said, keeping up a drumbeat he began last week in a New York Times op-ed and has returned to in a round of subsequent appearances.
“He said a whole lot of things”.
WikiLeaks claimed that the Democratic Party establishment conspired to ensure Clinton win the party’s presidential nomination.
Although he ran to become the Democratic nominee, the fiery socialist from Vermont said he will not officially join the party.
“The worst case, if not Trump himself, people around Trump are saying, hmm, we’ve got the House, the Senate. the White House. the Supreme Court, we’re going to change the rules of the game so we don’t [ever] lose anymore”, Sanders explained. “I’m happy to say my campaign brought millions of people into the political process, the vast majority of whom ended up voting for Hillary Clinton”.
A day after joining the Senate Democratic leadership, Vermont Sen. He’s also asking Trump to cut ties with campaign CEO Steve Bannon.
“It doesn’t matter. I don’t know if I could have won”.
Bernie Sanders is back on the stump.
He writes that he did poorly with seniors because they “remember the Clinton years fondly”, have “negative impressions of the word ‘socialism, ‘” and don’t use social media, a key part of how the campaign connected with supporters.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 41% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the Trump administration should continue to investigate Clinton and her closest aides for possible criminal activity, but 52% think it should end any such investigations.
Sanders repeated his support for Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison to head the Democratic National Committee, noting he has support from the incoming Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY.
It’s going to take place in “grass-roots America”, among those struggling economically, among young people, among people concerned about the environment, the senator said. In this capacity, Sanders will be tasked with reaching out to blue-collar voters who supported President-elect Donald Trump, The Hill reported. In past speeches, Sanders has said that growing up in a small rent-controlled apartment taught him about how financial problems can shape a family. “Right now, this country faces enormous crises”.
“The presumption behind that question is, I guess, we should anoint candidates for president”, Mr. Sanders said when he was asked whether Ms. Clinton could have won had he conceded the nomination to her earlier.
Excluded from power after the defeat of Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, the US Democratic Party is in full examination of conscience to try to revive a neglected constituency: white Americans disappointed globalization.
