Bernie Sanders Raises $26 Million In 3rd Quarter
Bernie Sanders has reached a goal of 1 million donors to his campaign – and counting. Sanders will have to decide whether it’s worth risking his brand to do that. She raised at least $19 million from about 60 events where admission typically costs ,700, the biggest donation allowed by law. The Sanders campaign, however, was spending just over $1.5 million.
The controversial story surrounding Hillary Clinton’s private email server just became more concerning.
Clinton’s campaign spent roughly $25 million from July through September, according to figures her campaign released Thursday, a large chunk of the $28 million she raised during that period.
“We are thrilled and grateful for the support of hundreds of thousands of donors across the country, helping us raise a record $75 million in the first two quarters”, said campaign manager Robby Mook in a statement.
It is important to remember that current polling showing Sanders leading Clinton in the early states and neutralizing her lead nationally has come without any paid media or advertising from his campaign. But we might be looking at a very different fundraising landscape if there was a system of matching small donations to candidates with public money, according to a report by left-wing advocacy group PIRG, The Intercept reported.
$40 million: The total amount raised by Sanders so far.
Only time will tell what kind of impact this new revelation could have on the Democratic presidential candidate and her campaign. But there’s a key difference: In the previous campaign, she simultaneously raised money for the primary and general election, the latter of which she wasn’t able to use after losing the nomination to Barack Obama.
Democratic socialists aren’t supposed to make $2 million in a single day.
There has been widespread speculation about whether Biden will jump into the presidential race this fall.
While Axelrod didn’t target Clinton specifically with his question – asking if Sanders could get through the entire 2016 campaign without negative ads – Sanders is already drawing contrasts with Clinton on the stump.
Clinton has said she didn’t send any classified information over the server, a claim that has been disproved as the number emails deemed confidential has been upped to 155 after the last release.
