Bernie Sanders Talks Revenue Inequality at Black Churches in SC
“We came here to see ourselves”. They declined to share specific findings from internal polls, but predicted the issue could resonate in Democratic contests in Iowa, Nevada, OH and MI, where many people have lost homes and businesses to bank foreclosures.
Hillary Clinton’s sharp move towards the right has many liberals questioning how much further right she will move in the general election, and if elected president.
The results showed that Marco Rubio would perform best against Clinton, beating her 50 to 42 percent.
On the trail, Sanders urges that “black lives matter”, and in SC so do black votes.
The poll reveals that Sanders had made gains with Democrats and Democratic leaners under age 50. Sen. In September’s poll which included Vice President Joe Biden, who later decided not to run, Clinton led Sanders 33 percent to 24 percent. Her campaign says the tax cut will be funded through tax increases on wealthy families and by “demanding” rebates from drug manufactures. He pledged a grass roots campaign in the state, knocking on doors and making inroads with the African-American community.
Clinton has mentioned a growing “caregiver crisis” at a number of events across the country, arguing that with Baby Boomers growing older, it will be important for the government to be more proactive in addressing caregiving issues.
“Three weeks ago he goes: ‘You know, I think Iowa is really for real.’ And I said: ‘Yeah, it looks like it.’…And he goes: I’m wondering whether I can get there before the season’s over, ‘” Clinton said, laughing along with the crowd “And I said: ‘Well, let’s try to figure that out'”.
Clinton has faced similar accusations in the past, most notably during speeches in Alabama and SC. Her aides also said ads by a new group, Future 45, attacking Clinton would only underscore her independence, because the group’s major donors include Wall Street magnates like Paul Singer.
Later Saturday, Sanders and O’Malley were to participate in a criminal justice forum in Columbia. “Today, 33 million Americans remain uninsured. That’s a reality that has to change”, Sanders said.
“We’ve had a lot of good conversations at the doors and on the phones about the ad. People want to learn more about his stance on criminal justice and the $15 minimum wage”. Only a few days ago, Sanders was asked about his religion throughout a town hall in Charleston, South Carolina.
“I think the difference is popularity versus the message”.
Clinton has said she supports paid family leave but has not embraced a bill introduced by Kirsten Gillibrand, Clinton’s successor as a senator from NY, that dozens of progressive lawmakers have lined up behind in both chambers of Congress.
Earlier Sunday, Sanders visited a pair of African American churches in North Charleston.
