Bernie Sanders, underestimated by Hillary Clinton’s campaign
Back in September, the two joked about Trump and neurosurgeon-turned-presidential candidate Ben Carson; at one point Clinton even let Fallon pull her hair, a dig at Trump’s wig-like locks.
“If Mrs. Clinton loses Iowa and New Hampshire, that could create new and real problems for her here”, said U.S. Rep. Jim E. Clyburn, who will host both candidates ahead of the primary in his home state of SC late next month. It begins with the Iowa caucus on February 1, followed by the New Hampshire primary on February 9, and a number of early votes through March. “They always are historically and we’re ready to have this debate engaged”.
Clinton campaign aides said scoffed at the notion that the ad is not directed squarely at Clinton, with some feeling the Wall Street line is more of a personal critique of Clinton – questioning her commitment to her platform – than an attack on a policy position.
Clinton dispatched a fleet of top surrogates to early voting states, including former Obama Cabinet officials, mayors, party leaders and her family, former President Bill Clinton and their daughter, Chelsea.
“For the right job, I am”, Clinton responded.
“I am running a different kind of campaign”, Clinton said, asked about the differences between the years. “It’s a race where Hillary Clinton has significant advantages in the long run”.
On February 27, the southern state will be the fourth face-off between Democrats such as Sanders and Clinton – and the first one with a large percentage of African-American voters. Such a move could severely impair the Democrat’s ability to win the female vote.
Lately though, Clinton hasn’t just been getting heat from the candidates on the other side.
“Among her very first sounds was Elmo”, Clinton revealed.
Sanders said Saturday that he supports legislation that would weaken a 2005 law protecting gun manufacturers and dealers from lawsuits when their firearms are used in crimes. The candidate has made near-daily television appearances where she has challenged Sanders’ stances on health care and gun control.
The problem with this message is that Clinton is barely beating Republican front-runner Donald Trump in some head-to-head polls (and losing to him in Fox News’ polls).
Further, she said she is making a call for income equality, including with the minimum wage and for women.
“With all due respect to Bernie Sanders, who I really do value for his intensity and passion and advocacy, basically what he’s doing is saying, ‘hey, we need to start all over again”.
