Besiktas make ‘enquiry’ about Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil
One of the Turkish club’s board members, Erol Kaynar, has claimed that Besiktas’ head of all transfer-related business, Erdal Torunogullari, has met with Ozil’s agent.
Ozil is contracted to the Gunners until 2018 and it is extremely unlikely Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will allow one of his most prized assets to leave the club this summer.
Besiktas are believed to be interested in the services of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil despite the player being a Fenerbahce fan, according to reports from the Express.
“In the future I want to wear a Fenerbahçe shirt it would be an honour”, the 26-year-old has been quoted as saying. “Everyone knows I am a Fenerbahce fan”, Ozil said in the past.
Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 for a club record fee of £42m.
Ozil’s impressive display against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last weekend helped Arsenal to a 2-1 victory, getting their season back on track after a disappointing start, losing at home to West Ham United the previous week. If he plays like he did last Sunday, with some unbelievable touches and tricks to go with his vision and awareness of what is going on around him, the German should be able to create enough chances for Arsenal to score goals.
