Better Call Saul Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
Better Call Saul fans in the United States will be able to binge watch season one right before season two premieres. Translation – this season will move steadily towards Jimmy McGill’s predestined transformation into the sleazy Saul. No longer concerned with doing the morally right thing, Jimmy has begun his descent into the persona of Saul – a persona that will persist until Walter White comes into his life and tears the whole thing apart. The spin-off of Breaking Bad is nearly here with its second season.
“Variety reports that the series returns, “…looking as relaxed, unhurried and somewhat dishevelled as before” but points out that, while displaying many of Breaking Bad’s qualities, highlights how “…it’s so laconic, and less urgent in terms of its stakes at this stage, as to at times become a little too sleepy”. Bob Odenkirk does a phenomenal job in the way he portrays Jimmy’s crisis.
It is interesting to see that Better Call Saul Season 2 started with a flashback to the earlier season. The camera angle, the color pallet, is all similar to the first season and that to Breaking Bad.
Before he was Saul Goodman, Walter White’s fashion-forward “criminal” lawyer, he was Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to champion his underdog clients, build his practice and somehow make a name for himself. In another scene Jimmy can seen saying “Where and when”.
Since initiating the role of Saul Goodman in “Breaking Bad”, Odenkirk said the character has become more and more appealing to him. This is not the Jimmy we saw at the beginning of Season 1.
As Zap2it wrote: “Series creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould chime in on the insane twists and turns coming in the new season and by the looks of it – things are going to get wild, dark, and big”. ‘I think past year was a real set up for a lot of stuff, ‘ he said.
