Betty White gives the most hilarious review of the ‘glorious’ ‘Deadpool’
While the general public may not know the name Deadpool, the character, whose super power is super fast self-healing, is one of Marvel’s most beloved titles, and after years of production delays fans are more than ready to finally see the hero on the big screen.
Fox’s “Deadpool”, a comic book adaptation about a wise-cracking mercenary, toppled the consensus forecast of $70 million over the four-day weekend at 3,558 locations.
Fox, however, is keeping its expectations conservative, forecasting a three-day total of $50 million to $55 million.
The movie, whose superhero swears like a sailor, will likely bring last year’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” to its knees in terms of Presidents’ Weekend launches; in comparison, that film made $93 million.
Looking more closely at Thursday’s numbers, it seems that Deadpool also beat Disney/Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($10.2 million) and Guardians of the Galaxy ($11.2 million), so that’s a feather in Fox’s cap. The superhero movie has gotten off to such a strong start that a climb past $90 million isn’t out of the realm of possibility. Scoring the biggest preview number ever for an R-rated film and the biggest of all time for the month of February, Deadpool has industry experts betting the film will rule the Valentine’s Day box office with an estimated $60-65 million weekend debut.
Its general release commenced on February 12. Directed by Tim Miller, the film also stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J.
