Beyonce & Katy Perry Send Sweet Christmas Cards to Burn Victim Safyre
The eight-year-old, who suffered severe burns and scarring from a fire that killed her father and siblings in 2013, ended up receiving over a million cards, including ones from the USA president, Barack Obama and Beyonce.
Katy Perry has sent a festive care package to burns victim Safyre Terry. “I hope you have a great New Year. I’ll be thinking of you on Christmas day, Special girl”, Katy wrote on her card.
Safyre, who has lived with her aunt and uncle since the fire, has also received a certificate of registration naming a star after her family, as well as a 3-D printed hand from the University of Albany and a trip to Disney World from nonprofit Baking Memories 4 Kids.
But it isn’t just celebrities who have been touched by Safyre’s story and sent her Christmas cards and gifts. The care package included a cute hoodie with ears, a backpack, a DVD of Perry’s Prismatic tour, a DVD of her film Part of Me, an iPhone 6 case and a kitty black cat purse.
Her aunt, Liz Dolder, appealed on Facebook for lots of Christmas cards for the young girl.
The latest addition to Safyre Terry’s holiday card collection has her “Walking on Air”.
She was only five-years-old at the time of this tragic event that left her completely alone. You are such an incredible inspiration. The post went viral with over 430,000 cards being sent to their P.O box. “Have a handsome holiday”, read the handwritten note.
But that wasn’t all – Safyre also received a present from Katy, which her family only discovered in her mountain of post on Boxing Day (26Dec15).
