Bhushans should join BJP,says AAP after criticism of Janlokpal
Bhushan, who formed Swaraj Abhiyan after being expelled from AAP, said that the appointment and removal of Lokpal by the government itself fails the whole objective. He said Kejriwal does not intend to give the people “an honest, transparent Lokpal” and claimed that the original bill has been significantly diluted and made less effective.
Initially, it was decided that there would be one Lokpal for Delhi and one for Centre, claims Bhushan.
“According to the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill 2015, a copy of which is in the possession of IANS, the Jan Lokpal may proceed to inquire or investigate into the allegation of “corruption” occurring in the national capital territory of Delhi” and a Delhi minister held this meant any central government functionary.
“Why did he not raise any issue at the time?” AAP returned to power earlier this year with a stunning win, 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi Assembly, wiping out the Congress and reducing BJP to just three seats. He should join the BJP and also make public relations between (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley and the Bhushans.
“The Centre’s Lokpal Act, which has been termed as jokepal by Kejriwal, is stronger AAP’s this Bill”.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his government have come under scathing criticism from former AAP members Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav for the Jan Lokpal draft.
The Bill purportedly says that a four-member selection committee the Chief Minister, Speaker, Leader of Opposition and Delhi High Court chief justice would appoint the Lokpal, who can be removed only via a motion in the Assembly supported by two-thirds majority.
Bhushan read out certain provisions of the draft claiming that Ministers and officials of the Centre were put under the ambit of the proposed legislation “deliberately” to provoke confrontation.
He said the government was trying to keep the power of appointment and dismissal of Lokpal with itself, hence going against the basic principles of Janlokpal bill.
AAP leader Kumar Vishwas has tweeted that nothing has been changed in the Jan Lokpal Bill. Meanwhile, Chadha said that the Bill will be tabled in the Assembly on Monday.
