Biden to appear on ‘Late Show’ during Colbert’s first week
He became the 47th veep of the United States in 2009 and is now serving his second term with President Barack Obama.
Colbert takes over hosting duties from David Letterman on Tuesday. Hello: The Colbert Report began at 11:30 p.m. But now, he jokes, hell have five extra minutes to prepare.
THAT is NOT sitting well with Colbert who went online this afternoon to fire back with a raffle of his own – the chance for someone to get their question asked of Jeb Bush on the debut show.
He added on Twitter, “As of today, I can give you driving directions through @waze!”
His line of work requires such decisiveness, Mr. Colbert said, not just to navigate the sheer number of choices constantly hurled at him, but because, at its best, a late-night program should be a pure expression of its host and his staff.
Colbert announced the booking – a “get” pregnant with possibility – on Twitter Tuesday: Per the tweet, “Wait, if he’s here, who’s vice presidenting the country?”
Viewers don’t know the real Colbert, or at least the side of himself that he is deciding to show the viewing public of The Late Show.
To hear Colbert tell it, he’s been given “free rein” by his new bosses.
For many talk-show hosts, the actual talking to guests is the hard part.
Today’s bookings are the most recent examples of 2016 contenders venturing into the late night arena.
Even so, will he be as amusing when stripped of his dim-witted proxy?
His first show’s headlines actor George Clooney, and Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, while the week continues with actress Scarlett Johansson, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, and comedian Amy Schumer.
