Bielema fires back at criticism from Texas Tech’s Kingsbury
“Several HS coaches have reached out to me this AM in support of Kliff saying what he did last night”, tweeted coaching website FootballScoop.
Bielema added he wasn’t referencing Kingsbury individually, but instead sharing his views of spread offenses.
Making Arkansas’ regression more visible was the national attention the game received afterward when Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury called out Bielema for what he said were disparaging comments about spread offenses to Texas high school coaches last summer.
Bielema fired back at Kingsbury in his Monday press conference.
After defeating Arkansas in their stadium last weekend, Kingsbury issued comments directed at Bielema in response to comments made by Bielema at a Texas High School Coaches convention.
Bielema didn’t back down afterward. Bielema and Arkansas lost their second game of the year to an unranked opponent and fans are getting sick of the false promises that the head coach has spewed.
“I really just left it at that”, Kingsbury said. “It was just kind of… a ideal storm”. A record-setting quarterback at Texas Tech, Kingsbury was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2003 NFL Draft.
It will be the first game between Arkansas and Tennessee since the Razorbacks pounded the Volunteers, 49-7, on November . 12, 2011 in Fayetteville. The Red Raiders followed that incredible debut with five straight losses ending the regular season. “All I can do is work hard and prepare myself for whatever happens”. But obviously it’s all about what have you done for me lately?
– Count TCU coach Gary Patterson among those who think Saturday’s game against the Red Raiders will be a lot closer than the 82-27 blowout win the Horned Frogs posted in 2014. Could this be the beginning of a revenge tour? Those coaches appear to be Team Kingsbury.
Though another lopsided game seems unlikely.
“(Bielema) stood up and said if you don’t play with a fullback, we’ll kick your ass, and if you throw it 70 times a game, we’ll kick your ass”, Kingsbury said after the game.
Everyone and their mother was calling the Patriots quarterback looking to see if he could get them tickets to Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby told USA Today on Monday he was aware of Kingsbury’s remarks from Saturday and did not see any issues the conference would have to address in terms of its sportsmanship policies. The Wildcats needed three overtimes to beat Louisiana Tech 39-33 on Saturday.
“Our trend of fumbling is poor”, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said.
When Long was asked about Bielema specifically by the media, Long said “He is who is he”.
