Big Ang’s family fundraising $25K to fight her brain and lung cancer
Raiola might be fighting her “biggest battle” yet – as her sister put it – but she has a major support system to lean on throughout all of this.
Big Ang (real name Angelia Raiola) will be trying some unconventional treatment, but she will be forced to pay out of pocket for the expenses incurred. However, the alternative treatment costs $60 per gram so the family has set up a GoFund Me page to help cover expenses.
Showbiz Spy reached out and was able to get the following comment from Big Ang: “I am going to fight this bull s$%t to the bitter end”.
Detore believed cannabis oil would serve as an alternative, which is why she started the GoFundMe account in the first place.
The original target of Big Ang’s GoFundMe page is $25,000.
Big Ang recently received the devastating news that her cancer had returned, spreading to her lungs and brain.
In a post to fans on New Year’s, Big Ang debuted a brand new haircut, writing, “Let’s fly into 2016 together with positive energy and good health”. On January 26, her doctor said the treatment wasn’t working.
“We were advised that she would start immunotherapy the following week”, Detore continued.
After undergoing two surgeries previous year, a source close to Raiola confirmed to ET in December that doctors found another lump that’s “definitely cancerous” during a routine checkup, adding that it was “serious”. As of Wednesday morning, more than $12,000 had been raised.
According to Detore, Raiola’s “breathing is labored and the amount of pain she is having is by far more than she could handle”. It has also mentioned that the GoFundMe has been put to try to help her sister to obtain the oil that can help her to stay at least pain free. “I’m not sure that it will work but I’m praying”, wrote Detore.
