“Big Bang Theory” recruits comedian Stephen Merchant

Now, it seems the time may have arrived for Amy to see what else is out there besides her former love.

Sheldon, on the other hand, asked a few women out at a bar due to his friends’ insistence that by asking someone out on a date will help him move on from his breakup with Amy.

Merchant and Tipton join a roster of Big Bang Theory guest stars including Bob Newhart, Billy Bob Thornton, Buzz Aldrin, Christine Baranski, George Takei, Katee Sackhoff, Leonard Nimoy, LeVar Burton, Sara Gilbert, Stan Lee, Stephen Hawking, Summer Glau and Wil Wheaton, among others. “The gang try and find a new boyfriend for Amy on a new mobile dating app”. Molaro revealed that the intent will be to explore themes that are consistent with whom Big Bang Theory viewers know Sheldon and Amy to be. “We’re seeing all new colours for both of them as well as the way it impacts the group. He’s so fond of her – something is going to happen between them, I’m sure”, he said. Whether she will be presented as an “attractive” type remains to be seen; when Tipton was on before, it was as part of a storyline when Howard and Raj tried to get access to the home of America’s Next Top Model.

The course of true love never did run smooth – and The Big Bang Theory’s Amy and Sheldon are finding that out the hard way. The only thing that is confirmed about these new temporary cast members is that Tipton, who has been on the show before, will definitely be playing a new character.
