Big Billion Days sale: Flipkart app crashes, Twitter reacts
This time “The Big Billion Days” is bigger, better, and like never before.
Flipkart has exclusively announced its Big Billion Day will start from October 13 and will last for October 17. “With Flipkart Big Billion Days just around the corner, the new warehouse will help us improve the productivity and meet the anticipated demand during this period”, Binny Bansal, COO & Co-founder of Flipkart, had said at the time of the warehouse’s launch. While the online mega sale draw a lot of criticism from customers over service disruption and immediate sold-out messages, Flipkart garnered over a billion hits, and even achieved its target of $100 million, roughly Rs 615 crores, in sales (GMV) in 10 hours.
Flipkart will go head-to-head with Amazon India this week as the two competitors offer huge discounts to lure customers to buy smartphones, tablets, clothes and other products.
Flipkart will add a new product category to the sale every day. From 15th October to 17 October, Mobile category will come under Big Billion Days sale.
Finally, the last day of the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale will see deals on books, the category that kickstarted the rise of the multi-billion dollar behemoth we now know as Flipkart.
Flipkart has also joined hands with a number of banks to offer their customers additional benefits during the sale event.
This year Flipkart has made special efforts to ensure a seamless shopping experience for its 50 million customers with offers on 30 million products across 70+ categories. Customers just need to log on to Amazon.in this festive season to avail outstanding deals and discounts on mobile phones, computers, cameras and enjoy a ideal shopping experience this Diwali. This year these figures are expected to rise much more as compared to the last year.
Earlier it faced many issues with the buyers on cheating about discounts at the time of purchase of products from site crashes and wrong prices and errors.
Rivals Snapdeal and Amazon have also organised similar sales.
Amazon India has played the app promotion strategy with great caution and subtleness.
According to a Deloitte report, digital now influences 21 per cent, or Rs 60,000 crore, of the over Rs 2.8 trillion of in-store organised retail sales in India.
