Big Game in Big-D for the Panthers

The Tony Romo football squad will welcome the Cam Newton team on Thursday (November 26) at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Cam Newton enters Thursday’s game (4:25 p.m. Fox) coming off a superb performance against Washington in which he threw a career-high five touchdown passes in a 44-16 win. Although Carolina is undefeated on the season, the Cowboys are slight favorites in the game.

When the 35-year-old Romo returned to the lineup last week against the Miami Dolphins, the Cowboys returned to the win column with a 24-14 win as Romo threw for two touchdowns and 227 yards, completing 18 of 28 pass attempts.

Dez Bryant missed a good chunk of the season due to a broken foot, but has been back for a couple of games. Romo has been absent from the Dallas Cowboys’ games since Week 2 due to an injured collarbone.

It was a weekend in the National Football League where the focus was on back-up quarterbacks after a mixture of injury and form resulted in a number of teams making changes.

A win over the Panthers, thus giving them their first loss of the season, will definitely be a big statement for Romo and company and may be a sign that this season may be but a blip in their progression.

The Cowboys have made their way through several running backs this season. Problem with that is the Panthers only allow 94.5 rushing yards per game. Both teams will try to come out and establish the run game early, and the team that can run the ball more effectively should win the game.

“Winning, is going to put a little more pep in everyone’s step”, Romo said following the win over Miami, according to ESPN.

The Dallas Cowboys are a better team than the Redskins, but can they stop a team that beat Green Bay handily? As MVP conversations begin to include his name, this is a game in which Newton needs to perform well against the Cowboys’ tenth ranked pass defense. Also add the 382 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, and you have a dynamic player. Devin Funchess pitched in 64 yards and a touchdown in four receptions.

As the Carolina Panthers keep winning (and absolutely dominating opponents) it’s become more and more obvious that Newton is not only legit, he’s the reason this team is winning.
