Big Sean Creates Fundraiser for Flint Residents
The rapper launched the #HealFlintKids fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the drinking-water crisis, which was touched off when the city began getting water from the Flint River instead of Lake Huron in an attempt to save costs.
Meek Mill reportedly made a donation to Flint Child and Family Health Development Fund as well, and sent 60,000 bottles of water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Big Sean is the latest in a league of stars bringing more attention to the Flint, Michigan, water crisis.
Luckily for the city, former MI resident Sean has donated $10 thousand dollars to help Flint recover. A full $10,000 of that total comes from Sean himself.
Big Sean is also encouraging others to donate, partnering with CrowdRise.
In addition to his donation, Sean will be giving five donors VIP passes to any stop on his as of yet unannounced Fall 2016 tour that will earn the winners a meet and greet and photo op with the rapper. Please give what you can, every donation counts.
He also lashed out at Michigan Governor Rick Snyder on Twitter in wake of the newly uncovered emails that apparently showed the state attempting to deflect responsibility over the ordeal.
Recently, Barack Obama declared the situation in Flint a state of emergency. “Flint I love you, Im sorry you have to deal with this tragedy!” he wrote.
The Flint water crisis recently rose to national public notoriety within the past week but the issue has been ongoing since roughly 2014.
