Biker suffers horrific burns in petrol station blunder after motorcycle
Video shows the man fueling his motorcycle when the bike and gas pump suddenly catch fire.
It happened at the Chevron gas station on Trickum Road in Marietta, just after 8 a.m. The rescuer burned his hand and was treated at Cobb Hospital while the motorcyclist was burned over the lower half of his body and is being treated in Grady’s burn center.
His injuries would have likely been worse if not for a good Samaritan who was captured on video dashing to the rescue as the motorcycle went up in flames.
A motorcyclist has suffered horror burns at a petrol station after his vehicle’s tank overflowed while the engine was still running.
“He was seriously burned”, Dupree said.
The motorcyclist was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
The owner of the gas station credits the man who helped with saving the motorcycle driver’s life. “But, in my opinion, those two saved his life today”, said Cobb County Battalion Chief David Blount.
The fire was reportedly caused after the man left his bike running and began pumping gas into when it overflowed and ignited the fire, according to an official. The fire severely damaged the motorcycle and slightly damaged the gas pump.
