QUALIFICATION ALERT: Beijing Olympics silver medalist Kerron Clement won the 400-meter hurdles at the U.S. Track and Field Trials to earn a spot on the team for the Rio Games next month. She finished fourth in the 200-meter final, one spot out of the Rio mix, in a.01-second loss to a sprawling Jenna Prandini.
Tori Bowie and Deajah Stevens finished first and second.
Asked if she thought about waiting more conservatively before starting her final kick, Efraimson said, “I wanted to be in a position to make the team”.
Barbara Nwaba was on her victory lap after winning the heptathlon on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Trials when she spotted her mom in the crowd, who had come up to Eugene from Los Angeles to surprise her.
“It’s just insane. I remember sitting on the couch with my mom as we were watching all these girls and thinking, like, “Look at them, they’re so amazing” and now that I’m here and I’m competing with them!” she told Us.
Prandini, who competed for OR, said she knew only that Felix was close to her and that she didn’t intend to dive and fall forward. A late lean didn’t work for Felix, ending her hopes of winning a 200-400 double in Rio and adding unexpected drama as the trials wrapped up.
Suhr won the trial by clearing 15 feet, 9 inches, the same height she cleared in London to win the gold medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
“I was on the outside”, Hall said.

20 years ago, there was the Magnificent Seven and the first ever Olympic team gold for USA female gymnasts.
Douglas was a shaky seventh during the opening night on Friday after falling on balance beam. “She’s the truth. I was in every single heat with her and she carries herself like a pro and I know she will represent the United States of America amazingly”.
“I feel bad that I’m supposed to be inspiring them and they don’t even want to do it anymore”, Raisman said.

Sara Bei Hall, a former teammate of Conley at Montgomery, also was in the 5,000 final but couldn’t keep pace with the leaders and finished 14th in 15:54.99. “So I was just really thankful to be here. I’ve been running since I was 7 years old”.
