Bill Belichick: Toughness best part of Odell Beckham Jr.’s game
NY Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham (13) slips a tackle by Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Jude Adjei-Barimah (38) during the second quarter of an NFL football game Sunday, November 8, 2015, in Tampa, Fla.
In less than two full seasons, Beckham has already put together a career’s worth of jaw-dropping displays of athleticism – most famously his one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys last season that Cris Collinsworth called the greatest catch he’d ever seen. Every day. “Anything I can do with my right hand, I’ve gotta do with my left”, he said. “It’s something I’ve been trying recently, to get my left hand intact with the rest of my body”.
“Brushing my teeth with my left hand-this is going to help me”, Beckham told The Wall Street Journal. These activities “recruiting different muscle groups”, according to Metzl, and Beckham says he already “increased feel” in both hands.
To do this, he started doing as many things as he possibly could left handed. That includes brushing his teeth three times a day (good job, ODB!), kicking, swinging a baseball bat and shooting baskets. Beckham was caught on the sideline throwing a temper tantrum.
“Odell made a heck of a play to get a first down”, head coach Tom Coughlin said to reporters after the game, per Newsday. “You adapt the hand so you know the football is supposed to be in that hand, too”.
