Bill Clinton books Iowa visit for Hillary campaign
Hillary Clinton was Zen-like about nemesis Donald Trump on Monday, shrugging off a question about one of the Republican presidential front-runner’s attacks on her by implying that some of what he says is divorced from reality.
He said that “it’s kind of scary this year” because “almost everybody actually tries to do what they said they were going to do while they were running”.
He also praised his wife’s experience in the Senate and as secretary of state, and calling her the candidate best fit to lead “an uncertain world”.
He denied changing his tune to suit his needs but admitted: “I needed votes and I would need people on my side”.
“They’ve created ISIS. Hillary Clinton created ISIS with Obama”, Trump said recently. Unlike her last campaign, this one doesn’t need a saviour.
BILL CLINTON: You’re entitled to say, what else is he going to say?
Troy said there are “endless” possibilities for harmful general-election stories on Hillary Clinton’s evolving positions on Bill Clinton’s achievements.
“I think it is the plan that offers the best chance to have the most rapid movement to broadly shared propserity”, he said. “Everything that they’re saying is below the American people“.
With the New Hampshire Primary just over a month away, it was time to throw in the heavy artillery, even though Mrs Clinton now seems in a far more comfortable position to secure the Democratic nomination than a few months ago. And Bill Clinton’s history of defending his wife suggests he will at least slug back.
In an interview that aired Sunday, Trump told CBS’ “Face the Nation” that “what he did and what he has gone through I think is, frankly, terrible”.
Trump was on the offensive ahead of Bill Clinton’s campaign debut, raising concern over the former president’s scandals and the role his wife played.
“It’s just his presence and his intelligence and he speaks his mind but he does it so beautifully and it all makes sense to people“, said MaryAnn Knowles, a retiree who lives in Hudson, New Hampshire. But did Clinton make a strong case for his wife’s candidacy, I asked?
If he heard the comment, Clinton ignored it this outing – in contrast with Hillary Clinton in a campaign appearance a day earlier.
Presidential candidates pressed: Conservative activists, writes the New York Times, know they won’t see a repeal of Obamacare signed into law with President Obama in the White House. Bernie Sanders, by 23 percentage points, according to a RealClearPolitics poll average. “It’s the greatest opportunity our country has ever had”, Clinton said.
“I’ve known (the Clintons) in a small way for a long time, so for me, it was an easy choice”, Donchess said.
