Bill Clinton paints candidate Hillary as ‘changemaker’
Susan Sarandon is in Iowa to stump for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders just days ahead of the Hawkeye State caucuses.
The PPP poll showed support for Clinton at 48 percent among Iowans likely to attend the Democratic caucuses, while Sanders stood at 40 percent.
Clinton said on Wednesday that she was “anxious” to debate more.
With decades of political experience under her belt, Hillary Clinton finds herself in a familiar position with less than one week to go until the Iowa caucuses – but she insists this time it is different.
White House officials say the comments were a as much a reflection of Obama’s high regard for Clinton, as any discomfort with Sanders.
“We are not going to engage in a process where the only time we schedule debates is when the Clinton campaign feels that they are under pressure and they need to have another debate”, he said.
Sanders is also making further inroads among younger people, grabbing 78 percent of support among the 18-44 group, the poll said.
“As of now he certainly doesn’t”, the senator said. If not, I think we’re going to be struggling.
The Sanders-Obama meeting came just before the first contests to pick the Democratic and Republican nominees: Iowa, on Monday, and New Hampshire, on February 9. Both (former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley) and I have agreed, and we’re waiting for (Sanders) to decide to join us. Sanders has called for more debates.
Obama is unlikely to formally endorse a Democrat before he votes in the IL primary in March, but he recently seemed to tip the scales in Clinton’s favour by describing her as ready to govern from day one.
“The work you do may not be as well understood and appreciated as it should be”, Clinton said in campaign footage included in the video.
Clinton champions her role in the Obama administration and the president’s achievements as she makes her appeal to voters in Iowa and across the country. So, I think that is a great idea. “That’s where Hillary Clinton lost me, because there was plenty of information that even I had that said there was a real problem with the logic involved”, she said. The Vermont senator’s campaign has warned it could jeopardize their ability to participate in upcoming debates scheduled in Wisconsin and Florida.
