Bill Hader and Judd Apatow impressed with LeBron’s improv skills
Things get a little too lovey-dovey at the end – Apatow tends toward that direction as a general thing. She also drinks too much, smokes pot and her most steady relationship is with a man who is unsure of exactly what he wants in life.
INTERVIEW: Amy Schumer talks about engineering “Trainwreck”.
Amy, as the main character appropriately is named, runs through boyfriends and sexual encounters, all thanks to her father’s promise when she is a young girl that monogamy is unrealistic. Aaron says, “You drove back 40 minutes to get your glasses?” and James hollers back, “I’m not giving Sunglass Hut another $30!” The hard-won emotion arrives in the person of Aaron (Bill Hader), a sports surgeon.
As part of the takeover, you’ll hear comedy sets from Amy Schumer, Colin Quinn, Mike Birbiglia, Keith Robinson, Dave Attell, Robert Kelly, Dan Soder,Jim Florentine, Nikki Glaser, Bridget Everett, Pete Davidson, Leslie Jones and Randall Park all hosted by Ron Bennington and Gail Bennington. The well-cast British actress Tilda Swinton co-stars as the publication’s imperious, disingenuous editor, Diana.
Whether or not Amy is your cup of tea, we think she’s here to stay and she’s just going to become more and more successful as time goes on! Maybe the nicest surprise is that the supportive sidekick isn’t her best friend but the sports doctor’s confidante, LeBron James. This means nothing to Amy, of course, but even she notes that it’s notable.
One wrote, “I can’t believe @Disney and @starwars are allowing @GQMagazine to do this DISTASTEFUL #starwars spread shame on all of you“. But once the romance takes off, the journalism realism falls by the wayside. Once the romance takes off, the entire film shifts.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t do anything“, Schumer assures Fallon in the clip above.
Funniest movie ever. Hands down. Apatow rivals Steven Spielberg as a devotee of the overabundance of heart. In fact, she purposely avoids them and thinks less of anyone who embraces the long held tradition of marriage and family, including her own sister, Kim (Brie Larson; 21 Jump Street).
Trainwreck is a “very entertaining romantic comedy” that is both conventional and not, writes Ty Burr.
“She herself is so amusing but she’s also a genuine fan of other people and she’s very generous”, adds Vanessa Bayer of “SNL” fame. He allows her to be harsh where she should be soft, and mad when she might have had doubt. She “has the ball skills to be the next LeBron James“, who, it turns out, is a “revelation” here.
