Bill Murray spotted on Ghostbusters reboot set
So much for that whole conspiracy theory that Billy Murray was shocked and appalled by Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters remake.
Could Bill Murray be totally blindsiding us and actually appearing in the rebooted Ghostbusters?
The 63-year-old played the spook-scrapping Ray Stantz in the classic 1984 original and its 1989 sequel, alongside Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Murray’s co-star Dan Aykroyd confirmed his own cameo in the movie last month.
Sidebar: this news has also reminded me of that god bad Adam Sandler movie Little Nicky, in which Ozzy Osbourne appeared as himself and bit the head of a dude for some reason my brain has conveniently forgotten. A strong supporting cast has been added to the mix too, with Chris Hemsworth as the Ghostbuster secretary along with Michael Kenneth Williams, Cecily Strong, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh and Neil Casey.
Whether Bill Murray reprises his role as Peter Venkman, settles for a quick walk through in the background, or plays something entirely different, his acceptance of the script may foretell the level of greatness the film might achieve. “Ghostbusters” is set to open July 22, 2016.
Murray was very positive about the new cast, including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, when he spoke at Comic Con earlier this summer, noting, “They got like a murderers’ row there”.
