Bill Murray to tend bar at son’s Brooklyn restaurant
Bill Murray, the actor whose frequent acts of spontaneity have earned him a loyal cult of followers, has selected his next random act of Murray-ness. Time Out New York reports Murray will tend bar at his son’s Brooklyn restaurant on September 16 and September 17, 2016.
Homer is now opening his own place, 21 Greenpoint (that’s the address too), this weekend in the old River Styx space and to celebrate his dad is bartending on Friday and Saturday. The food, he says, will be seasonal and exclusively from local farms. Essentially, we leave it up to you whether you want to fearless the subway ride and what is sure to be a long wait in order to enjoy a new hot spot in Brooklyn.
Now, as they reopen this weekend with a new bar, kitchen and renovated dining room, Bill will help out behind the bar, Homer told Eater NY. “They don’t look as good but they still taste great and are high quality”.
Noting the openness of it all, the manager added, “We’re not turning people away”. The menu features things nu items like a salmon pastrami sandwich with smoked trout on rye bread and steak tartare on roasted marrow bone. You could be singing some karaoke and all of a sudden BOOM Bill Murray.
“We want people to come and have fun”, Homer said. “Then we make them look pretty”.
As it turns out, though, people can’t just walk in.
