Bills GM Brandon Beane doesn’t rule out Josh Allen starting at QB
Unlike his racially insensitive tweets, Allen doesn’t seem to think he’s going to have any issue in the Bills’ quarterback room. Having to play too soon into his career could result in his time in the league ending much earlier than he would like.
General manager Brandon Beane said the Bills, including owners Terry and Kim Pegula, were not aware of Allen’s tweets until this week and circled back with him Thursday to discuss the matter. “I am blessed and humbled to be picked by them”.
If Josh Allen has taught all future NFL prospects one thing this year, it’s that you should probably just go ahead and delete your entire Twitter account before the start of the NFL Draft. The Bills sent the 12th overall selection, along with the 53rd and 56th overall picks in exchange for the seventh and 255th overall picks.
Apparently, the rookie quarterback was among the many infatuated with McCarron’s then-girfriend and now wife, Katherine Webb, during Alabama’s 2013 BCS National Championship Game rout of Notre Dame, as discovered by Barstool Sports’ Jack “Intern Jack Mac” McGuire.
“Listen, we don’t condone anything”. I think they did their due diligence in talking to my coaches, talking to teammates.
“I hope you know and others know I’m not the type of person I was at 14 and 15 that I tweeted so recklessly. He’s owned it. And he’s going to have to earn the trust of his teammates, the fan base, our organization”. Phillips was also named first-team all-conference and named a member of the America Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.
What happened next, we didn’t see coming and that was the Bills moving from No. 22 up to No. 16 in order to select Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. He was also a 1st team all ACC selection and a third-team All-American. He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 314 pounds and should come in competing for a starting job in 2018 with the departures along the line. He was named the North Team Most Outstanding Player in the 2018 Senior Bowl, and participated in the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. That is, except for one team, the one that ended up drafting him. He threw 44 touchdown passes vs. only 21 interceptions.
Wednesday morning, Josh Allen was calm and ready for the day he had waited for his whole life. Throughout college, he had under 60% completion in all 3 years he played at Wyoming. Hopefully for the Bills Mafia, Allen can grow and mature behind McCarron and prepare himself for a chance to be the next Jim Kelly in Buffalo.
Allen chuckled and said, “don’t do it”, when asked what fans might make of his statistics.
