Bills RB McCoy out indefinitely
In a press conference today, Bills coach Rex Ryan told members of the media what they expected to hear about the star players.
Buffalo moved to 2 and 1 last Sunday by crushing Miami, 41-14, an imposing victory (428 yards) that is either a sign of the team’s potential for a playoff run or a signal that Miami is headed for a long season. Watkins left last Sunday’s game in the first quarter and did not return.
Wide receiver Sammy Watkins sat out practice Wednesday because of a calf injury and there’s a chance he won’t be available for the game…. (McCoy) doesn’t look good.
Buffalo’s standing in the league’s rushing stats is a surprise only in that feature back LeSean McCoy has been playing on, in Ryan’s words “a leg-and-a-half”.
“One thing I just promised myself is I can’t go out there if I’m not 100 percent”, McCoy said. “But will it hold him out?”
“Victor tried it, and it did not feel right to him so he did not practice”, Coughlin said. He’s played in two games as a reserve this year without a catch.
“Get him healthy”, Ryan said, via Mike Rodak of ESPN.com.
Williams was given more touches in Sunday’s blowout of the Dolphins, racking up 110 yards on 12 carries, helped by an explosive 41-yard touchdown run. Williams has been declared out once again, which means Bacarri Rambo will get the start for the second straight week. Robert Woods would join Percy Harvin in the starting lineup, and Chris Hogan would slide into the No. 3 spot. “I’ll just ramp up the intensity as the week goes”, he said. All those type of things, you know real positive. “It was up to me to make a couple of plays that could have put us over the hump”. That’s a question I think coaches really have to answer. Eli Manning completed 23 of 32 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Giants.
Because of that, McCoy acknowledged after the game that he may have to miss a game. Meanwhile, the Giants played the top rushing attack in the Washington Redskins last week.
The Bills will be without a few key players against the New York Giants on Sunday.
Taylor, who is similar in style to Michael Vick, never started a game in four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, but he won a training camp quarterback battle in Buffalo, where he has emerged as a dual threat. The former Dolphin appeared to be more like the player that the Bills thought they were getting.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection, McCoy is in his first season with the Bills after being traded by the Philadelphia Eagles in the off-season for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
With LeSean McCoy ailing, Karlos Williams has pretty high temporary upside for the Buffalo Bills. He leads the Bills with 186 rushing yards on the season and is tops in the National Football League averaging 7.8 yards per carry.
Along with McCoy, the Bills’ offense will be without receiver Sammy Watkins on Sunday.
