Bills’ Reggie Ragland will undergo surgery to fix torn ACL
This morning, the Bills lost linebacker and second round pick Reggie Ragland for the entire 2016 season. In addition to Ragland, their first round pick, Shaq Lawson, had shoulder surgery in May.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Ragland has a partially torn ACL, will need surgery and could wind up on injured reserve.
Unfortunately, the team confirmed the seriousness of said injury.
The linebacker was coming off a tremendous college career at Alabama and was being looked at as one of Buffalo’s starting inside linebackers. The fact that both players were unsigned into the start of training camp – when clubs carry 90 players – speaks to how the Bills are attempting reclamation projects with each. He will compete with Zach Brown, David Hawthorne and Randell Johnson to fill Ragland’s void. Now two of those players are sidelined with third-round pick Adolphus Washington the only one who active in practice now. Of course, bringing in Rob Ryan to help with the defense will be something to track with or without Ragland. In Rex Ryan’s first season as head coach, the Bills went from being ranked 4th overall in yards allowed, to 19th. The Bills’ quick-fix draft has gone bust, and now it’s time for Plan B.
