Bills safety Aaron Williams was moving body after sustaining — Agent tells AP
The New England Patriots continued their recent dominance over the Buffalo Bills with a wild 40-32 win at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday.
He was targeted twice by quarterback Tom Brady, but reeled in just the one catch.
“Danny’s just an unbelievable player and competitor”, Brady said. “Belichick outcoached me, no question about it. That’s how it ended up”, Ryan said. At least, that’s what we think. But shoot, it’s to their credit.
“I’m taking it personal …”
Still, that didn’t quell Ryan’s irritation regarding what happened.
“The game’s not won on the first series, like you saw [Sunday]”, Brady said. It’s unfortunate. The plan has to be better on defense. But we did a horse [bleep] job and it’s my responsibility.
His players agreed that the performance was basically disgraceful.
“That was an unbelievable catch”, Brady said on WEEI Monday morning. So obviously there’s a million negative things that we’ve got to get corrected, yet I love the fighting spirit of our team and the heart that our team has. “We have a lot to work on”. You can count on him, and I count on him for a lot of things. It’s that simple. Even when the Bills closed the gap, it wasn’t because of anything Ryan did.
The Bills defense hounded Andrew Luck in Week 1. Either way, Ryan took the blame for the loss. Also accompanied with 3 touchdowns, he made the game the second most of his career and the most by any team against the Buffalo Bills. Tyrod Taylor completed 14 of 19 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown against no interceptions, and added 41 yards in rushing.
As I mentioned in previous articles, Greg Roman needed to trust Tyrod Taylor’s ability to throw the ball downfield on a consistent basis. Taylor also scored on a 5-yard run with 5:27 left in the game. Taylor found Charles Clay for a 9-yard touchdown.
Rob Gronkowski caught three touchdown passes in Week 1.
In their 40-32 rout of the Bills on Sunday, the Patriots did whatever they wanted to do through the air, exposing several flaws in Buffalo’s coverage schemes along the way. And it was a disappointing setback for the Bills (1-1), who knocked off Indianapolis last week and entered the game hoping to send a strong message to the rest of the AFC.
RUSH DEFENSE: B – This really should be graded as incomplete, so irrelevant was the Patriots running game. “If they want to throw the ball 80,000 times a game they can do that”. They scored a quick 21 and that was pretty much from the plus-50, with one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Until they absolutely needed it, the Bills hardly passed.
SPECIAL TEAMS: F – The Bills were terrible. Yet, their aversions toward the opposing team did not help them. He said after the game the missed extra point was due more to a bad exchange on the snap, so for now, Carpenter is safe. Lewis played in all but 13 snaps on offense against the Bills and fantasy owners should keep an eye on that number against the Jaguars to see how the split goes this week with Blount. In typical Rex Ryan fashion, the obsession bordered on freaky.
