Bing for Android overhauled with splashy interface and more local suggestions
Comscore this week released data covering the top 15 smartphone apps across both iOS and Android as of the end of 2015. Interestingly, the key features introduced by this update are aimed at helping users shop faster and save more money.
With the app, you can launch the barcode scanner by long-pressing the search icon and tapping the camera icon that pops out. To activate the barcode scanner you have two different options depending on which device you carry. Microsoft has outlined the new updates into three different categories which consist of comparing prices on products, finding the cheapest nearby gas, and also finding the best deals available. We’ll find if it in our database and return prices and customer ratings from major retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, and others.
If you want to know how to use the barcode scanner with Bing on iPhone, you can use the 3D touch technology on your iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S+ to “force-touch” the Bing app icon and select “Scan Barcode”.
New buttons have also been thrown into the mix, such as “Near Me”, where you can then look out for find places to go if you would like to grab a bite, or to fill up your vehicle with gas, purchase groceries, chill out at malls and the like. Following not so closely behind are Facebook Messenger, YouTube and Google Play with respective reaches of 62.5%, 61.3%, and 51.9%. Now with the GasBuddy integration, you can see the closest gas stations and which gas station has the lowest prices too.
Moreover, the update enhances the app’s Today feed with the inclusion of weather information and the ability to pin frequent and favorite bookmarks for quick access. Both apps are available now in the app stores.
