Bishop Murry heading to Vatican

Archbishop Cupich said Monday that he sometimes sees hateful language about immigration in political discourse.

Archbishop Blase J. Cupich has been officially appointed by Pope Francis as a participant in the Synod of Bishops, XIV Ordinary General Assembly, with the theme, The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World.

In all, there will be 279 bishops from more than 120 nations. They are Fr. Jonathan Flemings, L.C., Fr. Brian Needles, Fr. Stephen Prisk and Fr. William Donovan, who for the past two years has served as Archbishop Charles Chaput’s liaison to the Pontifical Council for the Family on behalf of the World Meeting of Families. At most, a synod can simply make recommendations to the pope. Njue is well known for his outspokenness in defense of both Church teaching and African cultural values.
