Bisping beats Silva in wild ending at UFC Fight Night 84
We’ll have round-by-round updates for all 13 bouts tonight and first up is the all-Swedish clash between UFC debutants David Teymur and Martin Svensson and it’s just moments away!
Michael Bisping has been waiting for years to get his hands on former UFC champ Anderson Silva, but would’ve preferred this fight when Silva was the reigning king of the division with a UFC strap around his waist. This scenario would be elegantly fitting for Anderson Silva in particular as he is undoubtedly a major front runner when discussing the greatest mixed martial artist of all time.
Bishop Auckland’s Grant is a bantamweight colleague of Cruz and fitness issues are something else he has in common with the American after being ruled out with them since his Ultimate Fighter 18 finale defeat to Chris Holdsworth in November 2013. “That’s it”, Silva said in Portuguese after his first decision loss in the UFC.
The 34-year-old fighter claims that he is better than he used to be and wants another crack to probably getting back in the octagon with Bisping or Silva. Evans was once the UFC light heavyweight champion. Wanderlei Silva was a PRIDE champion.
The manner of Silva’s victory is up for debate though. Prior to that “The Dreamcatcher” had won two straight, including a first round (1:10) TKO of Dan Henderson 1/24/15. The boos rained down on Gegard Mousasi after his win over Thales Leites, but credit where it’s due. The fourth round was more than likely won by Silva, although none of the judges saw it that way.
“This man is a cheat”, a fired-up Bisping said after weighing in at 186lbs. At long last, England’s Michael Bisping gets his wish: to fight the legendary Anderson Silva. Anderson is still a massive name. I respect both of these fighters and the amount of entertainment showed us how talented and humble they really are. “I’m signing this contract to fight this guy to beat him, to knock him out, to end his career”. I love my job, and I’m very happy, and I’m very excited for everything. “You inspired me”, Bisping stated.
It’s far past time for him to do it, though. Silva now pressing the action measuring with his right hand and nails Bisping with a right hook.
“I’m going to be a hell of a lot better than I was before”. Unbeaten in nine fights, and boasting six submission wins and three stoppages from strikes, it’s clear that Breese has great potential.
He’s struggled with wrestlers – Kennedy just took him down and pretty much held him there – and he’s had trouble with quicker opponents. Silva hits him again with another head kick, Bisping just surviving at this point, Silva is allowing him to rest for some reason. It’s only missing a title, or at least a title opportunity.
With the impressive victory over Silva, Bisping improves to a 28-7 record and is now riding high on a 3-fight winning streak.
He’s plucky and confident and fearless and, win or lose, he’s going to keep going.
The fight is now official for Saturday, but that didn’t stop Bisping from taking one final shot at Silva after he tested positive for a cocktail of illegal substances following his last fight at UFC 183.
