BJP backs Balochistan, says Pakistan has no respect for human rights
The complainants have alleged that Bugti, Marri and Baloch had “supported” Modi’s speech, Acting District Police Officer Khuzdar Muhammad Ashraf Jatak said.
Bugti, Baloch nationalist leader, in an interview with The Indian Express, thanked Modi for drawing attention of the worldwide community to their national movement and said that Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist attacks in a known fact. Serious offences like waging war against Pakistan have been registered against them.
While some oppose and others stand with it, on Wednesday his pictures of PM Modi along with Baloch martyr and freedom fighter Akbar Bugti were held in protests in Balochistan. He had even said that Pakistan have to answer the world about atrocities being carried out on the people of Balochistan and PoK.
But the Indian effort to internationalise the situation in Balochistan received support from the Bangladeshi government and former Afghan president Hamid Karzai.
Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his reference to Balochistan in Independence Day speech, Shiv Sena sought to know if he will send the Army to save the Baloch leaders who have been charged with sedition for backing his remarks.
Zehri’s speech came days after a video showing exiled Bugti appreciating “support” given to the Baloch people by Modi began circulating on social media.
The cases were registered against Baloch Republican Party’s (BRP) Brahamdagh Bugti, Baloch liberation leader Harbiyar Marri and Baloch Students Organisation chairperson Karima Baloch.
U.S. States Department spokesperson Mark Toner said that he could not agree with the view that nobody knew about human rights violations in PoK before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the same in recent times.
“We do have concerns about the human rights situations there (PoK), the United States has called for working out differences peacefully and through a “valid political process”, he said”.
