BJP MP Kirti Azad demands reason of suspension from PM Modi
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi lent their voices in support of the finance minister.
“I fought against corruption in the DDCA outside the party”.
“It is unfortunate that someone who is fighting against corruption, the one who speaks the truth, the one who is being harassed for these many years, has suddenly become “anti-party” and thrown out”, added Azad.
His supporters are listening.
On Tuesday, Azad had taken on Jaitley in Parliament, seeking a CBI investigation monitored by a special investigation team into his allegations. I was only speaking against corruption in DDCA”, he said “I hope the Prime Minister will listen to my plea and do justice.
“I am an MP; I raised some concerns and I have been suspended. Is honesty my fault?” Party leader Subramanian Swamy has agreed to help Azad draft a reply on the charges levelled against him. “As you have not mentioned DDCA corruption issue, I believe that the party has nothing to do with this matter and is purely out of its purview”, Azad said.
“A few months ago, some BJP members made statements which were not appreciated by the party”. There has not been single instance or blemish and the party which gave me every opportunity to work. “Where is the clash between the two roles of Swamy?”
“Jaitley fumed and demanded that the party should not keep quiet any longer”.
“Humble appeal to friends”.
BJP sources denied that Sinha was next in the line for a notice.
The BJP brass has of late been pilloried by its MPs. Azad asked as journalists sought his reaction.
After Bihar poll failure, BJP veterans L K Avani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha had virtually revolted against the party leadership. Advani may write to the prime minister to express their anguish. Feel that untimely action could boomerang.
There were also reports that Mr. Azad would meet with Mr. Joshi later this evening. “It was only the pressure from AAP that changed things. The BJP is drowned in corruption”, the Aam Aadmi Party leader tweeted in Hindi. Jaitley had hinted that the cricketer-turned-politician (Azad) had met Congress President Sonia Gandhi to fix him in the case. “Now a cricket scam is being alleged, but Modiji is silent”, the Congress leader said in Lucknow.
Modi, addressing BJP MPs, urged them to fan out to their constituencies after the winter session to “expose” the Congress – which was “disrupting” Parliament and blocking business – before the people. “There is no move yet”, a general secretary said. “Kirti Azad suspended by the BJP”. He said his allegations were not against any individual and asked what wrong he’d done by raising the issue of corruption. He said he also expected BJP veterans to look into the issue. First Ram Jethmalani and now Kirti.
