BJP MP Mahesh Girri ends hunger strike outside Arvind Kejriwals residence
BJP’s East Delhi MP Maheish Girri, who was protesting outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence since Sunday, broke his fast-unto-death on Tuesday on the urging of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. “The scam is continuing as no official or contractor has been punished and the monthly payments for supply of tanker water is going on”, Gupta claimed. “If you feel, please question me and if needed please arrest me”, Girri said. “I will die but will not tolerate fraud”. “I am a spiritual person for whom image is more important than power”.
Union Minister Harsh Vardhan, BJP’s Delhi unit President Satish Upadhyay and several other leaders joined the hunger strike led by Mr Girri. If there is a letter then Kejriwal should present it, if not he should apologise. “The Government should be dismissed in national interest”, he said.
Swamy charged that Kejriwal often uses the “shoot and scoot” tactic to attack political rivals. “He should either show documents (to corroborate his charges against Girri) or apologise”, he said.
Swamy said he would go after Kejriwal in the same manner as he took on RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan.
“I challenged Kejriwal for a debate, it has been 3 days”. Is this BJP’s way to seek criminal justice?
In a series of tweets, Kejriwal had demanded that Girri should be arrested in connection with the murder of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) official M M Khan.
The hotel’s owner, Ramesh Kakkar, was arrested along with six others for Khan’s murder.
To this, the BJP MP had asked Kejriwal to either prove his charge against him or “resign” from the post of chief minister.
Targeting Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, Swamy claimed he has information to suggest that the LG was playing a “mischievous role” of “abetting” Kejriwal at the behest of Congress to embarrass BJP while appearing to oppose the AAP leader in public.
He demanded the payments made to the contractors during the Kejriwal government be realised from Aam Aadmi Party.
