BJP rubbishes ‘Modi-Owaisi meeting’ report, to file defamation suit
The newspaper had earlier claimed about a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Akbar termed the news report an example of “yellow journalism”, further adding that his party will sue the daily seeking “heavy” damages.
BJP leader MJ Akbar on Friday said that the party will file a defamation case against the “yellow journalism” of newspaper called Asian Age for spreading rumours about PM Modi- Owaisi meeting.
The party said that Owaisi, who is fielding candidates in some of the assembly constituencies in the upcoming Bihar polls, has not met the Prime Minister and said a defamation case will be slapped against the media house which first claimed such a meeting had taken place.
Intrestingly, RJD leader Raghuvansh Prashad Singh has been noted saying that he would have preferred Owaisi joining Grand Alliance so that RJD’s votes were not cut. “He is only trying to help and benefit BJP that is why his party has decided to contest polls only in Seemanchal region”. The survey, which had 2,452 respondents, was carried between April and May this year. And they are connecting with the developmental agenda of Modi.
The SP and BSP which are headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav and Miss Mayawati respectively have announced to contest elections on all 243 seats in Bihar.
The report objected by the BJP suggested that the BJP and the MIM were in a secret dealin Bihar to split the Muslim vote in the coming Assembly elections in the state to boost theNDA prospect.
