BJP should ask for SC monitored investigation on DDCA issue: Congress
BJP MP Azad, who has been leading a campaign against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on alleged corruption in the DDCA, was yesterday suspended by the party which charged him for anti-party activities and accused him of “colluding” with Congress and AAP to bring it into “disrepute”.
Azad bowls googly at Shah saying suspension letter omits DDCA Challenging the show-cause notice served by BJP, a belligerent Kirti Azad has demanded the party to give him “proof” of his anti-party activities and has said that DDCA corruption does not come under party’s purview.
Sources close to Azad said he was gearing up for more exposes in the matter, and had sought the help of Subramanian Swamy in drafting his replies to the party. Azad had held a press conference last Sunday, highlighting alleged corruption in the DDCA which Jaitley headed for 13 years until 2013.
Rather, it was seen that BJP president Amit Shah, another Modi associate, presided over the decision subsequent to neglecting to convince Azad from tending to the media on the DDCA issue.
The party’s senior leaders, including L.K. Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, are apparently upset over the move to suspend Mr Azad without following due procedure and feel it would only lead to more dissenting voices within the party.
The sources said the veterans were of the perspective the Bharatiya Janata Party administration did not take after the correct strategy while acting against Azad, a three-time Lok Sabha part from Bihar and child of previous Bihar CM Bhagwat Jha Azad.
Azad on Thursday said that he will meet the members of the margdarshak mandal over the issue and also sough an appointment with Modi on Friday.
Advani, Joshi, Shanta Kumar and former finance minister Sinha are known to be unhappy with the working style of Shah. Ahead of the suspension, Jaitley dubbed Azad a “Trojan Horse”. “I do not assume party ought to lose such a trustworthy individual like him”, swamy informed ANI.
While there was buzz through the day that there was disquiet even within the RSS over the way the BJP handled the DDCA row, an RSS leader told The Hindu: “It is the party’s internal matter”.
