BJP suspends Daya Shankar Singh for six years
BSP workers on Thursday, July 21 staged a protest in Hazratganj area here demanding the arrest of BJP leader Dayashanakar Singh for making derogatory remarks against party supremo Mayawati.
Asserting that it was possible that external elements had infiltrated the angry BSP protesters and directed the comments towards Dayashankar’s family, she added that his wife and daughter had been targeted to make them feel the impact of obscene comments.
The BJP has sacked Singh as its Uttar Pradesh vice-president and expelled him from the party for six years. Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien said the entire house unanimously condemns the remark and asked the government to ensure that strictest action is taken against the person who made the statement as per the law. Singh’s family accused the BSP leaders of harassing and using foul language against his daughter.
BSP leader Satish Mishra said the party would lodge a complaint against Singh and drag him to court.
The BSP leader claimed that Dayashankar Singh made derogatory references to Mayawati as part of a “planned conspiracy” of the BJP to cover up what was happening in Gujarat.
The BSP leader alleged that the BJP has tried to give “a new twist” to the matter to distract public attention and regain political ground lost by it due to its expelled leader’s abusive remarks. BJP’s Uttar Pradesh Vice President Dayashankar Singh accuses Mayawati and been fired immediately. “I don’t want to imagine what is the state of my 80-year-old mother-in-law”, she said.
She said that raising the highly inappropriate slogans in the protest rally were not possible without permission of Party Chief Ms. Mayawati.
After a categorical and time-bound assurance by authorities, BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui announced the agitation was being called off. “Then they would have won my heart”, she said.
And the BSP, rattled until now by a series of desertions by long-time party leaders, is cashing in on Singh terming its President Mayawati as “worse than a prostitute”.
